If you haven't yet picked up your 2010 Calendar, pictures of the schools in McDonald County, there are still a few available. They can be had for a donation of $5 each, (if you would like to have them mailed to you, send your check for $13.) to P. O. Box 572, Pineville, Missouri 64856 or come by the Museum located 302 Harmon Street in Pineville, - Volunteers attempt to keep the museum open Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Our new calendars will be available in November, - The Society's 2011 Commemorative 50th Anniversary of the McDonald Territory secession in 1961. They can be purchased for a donation of $8 if you would like your copy mailed, just send a check or money order in the amount of $13 (Calendar price + shipping and handling). You will want to mark your calendar for November 21 for our semi-monthly meeting to be held at the McDonald County Court House (the new one on "W" Hwy) at which time we are eagerly anticipating our guest speaker. Speaking will be Linda Lindquist Baldwin (of McDonald County) - the Belsnickle Lady. Linda is sure to be very entertaining and informative, and has also promised some interesting door prizes. (more about Linda in our next column) You will not want to miss this exciting afternoon. Note, also that the Society will hold their annual Christmas party on December 5, more about this later. Are you a member of this historical society? If so, you should have received your fall issue of "Heritage & History of McDonald County", put together and mailed by our President, Raylene Lamb, Museum Curator, David Sparlin and Treasurer, Dorothy Beauchamp. Some interesting pictures and an update of what's happening--- Check on the latest as far as the Courthouse on the Square, to be our new museum, go to our website www.mcdonaldcohistory.org for updates Also, still available a reprint of "The Illustrated History of McDonald County Missouri, From the Earliest Settlement To the Present Time, edited and compiled by J. A. Sturges, 1897" We have received some treasured pictures, provided by Gene Hall and Barbara Williams, drop by and help us identify some of these pioneers of our era. We are in the process at this time of re-binding another rare, valuable book, donated by Barbara and Dwight Ittner, keep watching this column for more information on this exciting new addition to the McDonald County Historical Museum.
